What is an Authorised Testing Facility (ATF)?

An “authorised testing facility” is a site approved by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to carry out statutory annual tests for HGVs, trailers and buses. These are the same rigorous standards as government-run test centres but take place within a commercial workshop.

Because we operate our own ATF lane, you benefit from the convenience of in-house testing alongside servicing, repairs and MOT preparation all under one roof.

What Happens During the HGV MOT at Our ATF Lane

On arrival we book your vehicle into our ATF lane with DVSA.

  • Your vehicle is checked for suitability: correct documentation, appropriate loading for brake tests, general safety condition.
  • A full walk-around inspection is carried out: lights, tyres, suspension, exhaust, steering, bodywork.
  • A roller brake test is conducted under loaded or appropriately laden conditions to check brake efficiency for service and park brakes.
  • Emissions and smoke tests (where applicable) are done.
  • The DVSA assessor issues a pass or fail certificate. If any items fail, we advise you on next steps, and if you choose we can carry out repairs and present for retest.
  • You leave with your MOT certificate for the year, and your vehicle remains compliant.
